Assessment Matters Psychology

An Educational Assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of an individual’s academic skills to identify strengths, areas of difficulty, and any underlying learning needs that may be impacting their progress at school. At Assessment Matters Psychology, educational assessments typically include the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – Third Edition (WIAT-III), together with other standardised assessments selected according to the individual's age, presenting concerns, and referral questions.

An Educational Assessment may assist in identifying learning disorders such as Dyslexia (Specific Learning Disorder with impairment in reading), Dysgraphia (Specific Learning Disorder with impairment in written expression), or Dyscalculia (Specific Learning Disorder with impairment in mathematics), as well as other factors that may be affecting academic performance.

An Educational Assessment may be completed as a standalone assessment when a comprehensive cognitive (IQ) assessment has already been conducted previously. In these circumstances, the existing cognitive assessment results are integrated with the current academic findings to provide a thorough understanding of the individual's learning profile without the need to repeat intellectual testing.

NOTE: Some private health funds may cover parts of the assessment process.  A Medicare rebate may be applicable for some sessions of the assessment process and follow-up sessions.  Please enquire at the time of booking for which sessions you will be able to claim a rebate.
